Danny Cottage Accessibility Statement

Please ask for our brochure, information and instructions in large print should you need them. Danny Cottage has low ceilings and doorways and exposed and uneven beams throughout so it is not suitable for those who are blind or poorly sighted.

Wheelchair Mobility
The front entrance to Danny Cottage is approached over a path, with a wheel chair ramp alternative to the 3 steps up from the onsite parking with private space for up to 3 vehicles.

The front door has a sill.

The garden is all grass path ways.

The ground floor has a step to the kitchen and the toilet has a very narrow corridor and door way so would not be accessible for a wheel chair. The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible.

Limited mobility
From the entrance Hall, the stairs to the bedrooms and bathrooms are steep and curve around but do have handrails and places to grip to aid going up and down the stairs. There are low and narrow doorways and steps into the bedrooms. A bath rail can be installed on request.

Danny Cottage is situated 0.5 mile from the northern side of Alfriston village and is within a 10 minute walk, by road, from the High Street.

Alfriston is served by local buses giving access to Lewes/Brighton, Seaford and Eastbourne.

Our closest Railway Station is at Berwick (7 mins. drive). There are also Railway Stations at Lewes, Polegate and Seaford. The journey to London via a train from Berwick takes approximately 2 hours.

There is a local Taxi Service.

For those with a car, the coast at Seaford and Cuckmere Haven can be reached within a 15 minute drive. Eastbourne is approximately half an hours drive away, while Lewes can be reached within a 20 minute drive. The Downland Villages of Firle and Glyndebourne are also only 20 minutes drive away.

All travel times are approximate.
